Outfit Inspiration: What to wear for in-between weather

10 Oct

One of the trickiest parts of transitioning from one season to another is figuring out what to wear. Between Labor Day and Thanksgiving you’ll find yourself constantly sticking your hand out the window to answer life’s tough questions – Do I need a jacket? Something light or leather bomber? Should I put on tights or can I still wear sandals? Here’s your solution – the perfect fall outfit.

For the perfect transitional look mix and match elements of summer and fall. Take summer’s brightly colored skirt  and add a long-sleeve top in a complementary fall color. Black always works, and tan or oxblood are very of the moment.  Make sure the top is lightweight enough that you’ll stay warm if a breeze blows, but you won’t melt in the sun.

Next add tights. Opaque are best if you’ll be outside at the beginning or end of the day when the weather is it’s coolest. Last add basic pumps, or flats. If the temperature rises too much you’ll regret wearing boots, but with pumps or flats you take off your tights and still look chic in your shoes.

IMG_2491Don’t forget your accessories! Depending on how cold you think it might be carry a light jacket, like a blazer, and/or a lightweight scarf. Sunnies are necessary in the daytime since is still out! Be sure to have a bag that holds any of these accessories, in case you decide you don’t need any of them.

It seems tricky but just remember to use light layers so you’re never wearing TOO much clothing!!
