Pantone Picks ‘Radiant Orchid’ as 2014’s color of the year

5 Dec

Move over Emerald Green, Pantone has officially announced the color of the year for 2014 and it’s a pretty shade of purlple: Radiant Orchid!

According to Pantone, “Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health.

So how do you make the most of this shade next year? Lots of designers including Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan, Juicy Couture and Yoana Baraschi have already incorporated the hue into their Spring 2014 collections. Be seductive and pair it with red or keep it simple next to sister shades lavender, purple and pink.

Scared to try it? You don’t have to rock orchid from head to toe, feel free to use the it hue as an accent piece or a bold pop of color against neutrals and darker colors.

I’m personally VERY excited about this year’s hue since purple is my favorite color!! Can’t wait to share all my exciting new “radiant orchid” looks with you here!
