Solange for PUMA: 3 reasons to be excited

21 Nov

While you were prepping to leave the office yesterday, Solange was on Instagram announcing her new job: Art Director and Creative Consultant for PUMA!

Solange has dipped her hands in almost ALL the creative pots, making her a singer/songwriter/DJ/socialite/fashionista, so this new role could be perfect for her. Here’s three reasons  to look forward to Solo’s design gig:

  • Creative style is her ‘thing’, and now it can be ours too!   Solange may have burst onto the scene as the singing little sister of pop-star Beyonce, but everything she’s done from her music to her wardrobe has always had it’s own flavor – and we’ve always been envious. Now instead of just admiring Solange’s wardrobe creations, we can actually rock them. Awesome!
  • Kicks for girls who don’t wear sneakers! I’m not a sneaker woman for several reasons – mainly I can’t find  any cute ones I like!! Surely Solange will come up with creative designs women like me don’t mind wearing whether we’re working out or running errands.
  • Original ideas and fresh talent! For her first PUMA project, Solange curated a team of four emerging talented designers to create the “Girls of Blaze” collection – a re-interpretation of the classic Puma Disk style inspired by the sights and sounds of Brazil. So if you’re not making it to the World Cup next summer you can at least watch the games and be dressed in the Brazilian spirit!

Solange’s “Girls of Blaze” collection debuts in February, how anxious are you?!

The hunt for cute workout gear never ends – you want sweat wicking, breathable fabrics in fun colors that will last more than just a few workouts. Don’t forget they’ve got to make you look hot! Retail company Express has offered long offered loungewear and more recently expanded into basic yoga attire, but they’ve now announced their latest venture, Exp Core – Performance clothing designed for all workouts from yoga to high intensity training.

Exp Core is launching with all the basics one could possibly need for a decent workout – running shorts, sports bras, short sleeve tees, tanks both with and without built-in-bras and compression leggings that also come in cropped and capri versions. Planning to take your workout outdoors this fall? Exp Core has long sleeve tees, zip-up jackets and so far all of their pants have hidden pockets for your must-have valuables.

Cold Weather Tops

Currently the collection only has women’s items, and there’s no word on whether it’ll expand to carry men’s pieces as well. Exp Core hasn’t officially launched yet but you can pre-order any of the 39 items from the first collection nowCheck out the rest of the collection in the slideshows below. Which items are you eager to get your hands on?

Phillip Lim for Target doesn’t hit stores for another month, but I’ve already picked out the must-have items!!!

Check out the the pieces I’m obsessed with from Target’s latest cheap chic collaboration:

PL4Target5

Trench coat, $79.99

I’ve been searching for a nice trench coat for a long time – this just might be it. Especially love the light blue detail!

Trench coat, $79.99

Trench coat, $79.99

I love that there’s a matching trench for men. Can we say couples outfits?

PL4Target4

French Terry Sweatshirt in Boom Print, $39.99
Drawstring Carry-all Bag in Animal Print, $49.99

Beyonce wore a graphic cartoon sweatshirt so I want to wear this graphic sweatshirt. I fully intend to pair it with skinny pants like Bey did or try to rock it with a full skirt.  And can we talk about that leopard print carry-all? I may have found a chic alternative to a gym bag!

Being plagued with skin too sensitive for affordable jewelry means I fully embrace graphics and prints. Either of these tops can easily add character to an everyday look.

PL4Target2

French Terry Sweatshirt, $29.99

This whole look is for the man who has trouble looking polished. The simple pullover goes with a lot and can serve as a go-to sweater for days a man doesn’t know what to wear.

Shirt Dress in Paper Floral Print, $39.99

Shirt Dress in Paper Floral Print, $39.99

This floral shirt dress is simple and trendy, making it an easy look to throw together when you want to pretend you didn’t just rush out of the house.

I can’t buy everything, but these pieces definitely look worth the money! Check out the full lookbook on Huffington Post – which pieces do YOU want most?
